Cinema St Andrews event at MUSA

On 3 May 2012 Cinema St Andrews organised a morning of presentations at The Museum of University of St Andrews (MUSA). The event provided an opportunity for twelve University students, from the Film Studies module ‘Film and the Archive’, to showcase their research findings on all aspects of local cinema. Topics covered included the use of the cinemas during the Second World War, the establishment of the ‘St Andrews Minors Club’ in the 1960s, the development of a star culture in the town, and a study of early amateur films of St Andrews. Further topics discussed the importance of North Street in local cinema history, the lasting legacy of La Scala, the development of Film Societies in the town, and the more recent history of Rogue productions.

The work of the students has now been published on this site.
